1. Decide on the tone first

A proposal page can be playful, cinematic, quiet or deeply romantic. Choose a tone that reflects your relationship rather than following a trend. If you both enjoy humour, a light opening may feel natural. If your story is more sentimental, a simple design with a meaningful message may work better.

Remember that a website is a creative way to present your words; it should not replace a conversation about commitment, expectations or consent. Keep the experience respectful and comfortable for the person receiving it.

2. Build a simple story

Give the page a beginning, middle and ending. Start with a short welcome or a line that catches their attention. Then share a few moments that matter to you: how you met, a favorite memory, or something small they do that makes your life better. Keep each section focused so the story is easy to follow on a phone.

3. Choose details that mean something

Use photos that connect to the story rather than adding images simply to fill space. A caption can explain why a particular day mattered. You might include a favorite place, a shared phrase or a song that has personal meaning, if the chosen template supports audio.

Wishly templates have different layouts and interactions. Preview the design before choosing it, and check whether it supports the sections you want, such as a gallery, music, chapters, reveal or final question.

4. Make the final question clear

Do not bury the most important part of the page. Give the final screen enough space and use words that sound like you. Keep the question direct. If the design has a reveal or button interaction, test it carefully so the person can understand what to tap and what happens next.

Keep it personal, not pressuring. A proposal should leave room for an honest response. Avoid timers, public pressure or interactions that make someone feel they cannot answer freely.

A simple proposal-page outline

If you are unsure how to arrange the story, use a short sequence rather than trying to write a long letter. Start with a welcome line, add two or three memories, explain what you appreciate about the person, and finish with the question. Each section should add something new. Repeating the same compliment in several paragraphs can make the experience feel longer without making it more meaningful.

You can draft the message in a notes app before adding it to the website. Read it aloud once. If a sentence sounds unlike something you would normally say, rewrite it in your own voice. Specific details—a place you both remember, a small habit you value or a moment that changed how you saw the relationship—usually feel more personal than generic romantic phrases.

Make the experience comfortable to open

Think about when and where the recipient will open the page. A lightweight design with readable text is helpful on mobile data and smaller screens. Avoid loud audio that starts unexpectedly, flashing effects or interactions that hide the main message. If music is available in your chosen template, make sure it is optional or easy to stop, and use audio you are allowed to share.

Before you send the page, ask yourself whether the photos and details are appropriate for a private link that could be forwarded. If you would not be comfortable with someone else seeing a particular image or sentence, leave it out. The goal is to make the recipient feel valued, not to create pressure or a public performance.

5. Share it in a way that feels right

You could send the link privately, show it together or use it as part of a larger moment. Consider the person's comfort and privacy before sharing any personal photographs or details. If the page is publicly accessible by link, remember that a recipient may be able to forward it to someone else.

Before sharing, preview the page on a phone, check that all text is correct and test the public link after publishing. If you have included music or video, verify that it behaves as expected on the device you plan to use.
